The Career Foundation Class offers the opportunity to learn new office skills or improve on existing skills. Students have the opportunity to learn basic keyboarding, filing, 10-key calculator, business skills, business math and English. Students may also learn computer literacy, word processing using MS Word 2016, banking and payroll procedures along with front office duties. Upon completion of this course, students will have the necessary skills to obtain entry-level positions and pass pre-employment tests.


 

CLERICAL/MOS (Microsoft Office Specialist)

2.4615 Information Processing

 

The Clerical Specialist class enhances the skills gained in the Career Foundation and Basic Finance courses. Students develop advanced skills in Microsoft Office 2010, including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Prerequisite is completion of Career Foundation and Basic Finance class, or equivalent training/experience. Upon completion of this course, students have the opportunity to participate in an externship within the community where they can apply their acquired skills in the workplace. Students can register for this class during GED/High School Diploma Registration dates at the Merced office. Check the school calendar.

Upon completion of courses, students are encouraged to take the MOS Industry Certification Exam.
